I have received the following email from pensioner Barry Gray. John retired as a Detective Superintendent.
“It is with much regret that I report the recent death of Pam, devoted wife of John Beavis.
Their enduring relationship fittingly evolved from Valentine’s Day, 1975, when she was serving in Surrey as WPC Pamela Sturch. Anyone who has known them will have witnessed the support they provided for each other, in everything they did and achieved in the ensuing years.
Pam was given the sort of diagnosis which many of us dread, some five months ago. Although most of their married life has been spent in Horley, Pam passed away peacefully on the 13th February in their villa near the Costa Blanca.
In spite of the distance from their Surrey roots, a fitting service was held at Denia Crematorium on Monday 17th February, and was packed with many friends and former colleagues. Among the mourners were Ann & Lynn Evans, Denise Hart, Diane & Alan (Ginger) White, Deirdre & Terry Upton, Judy & Ken Langridge, Jean & Nick Brent, Jenny & John Young, and Anne & Ray Hussey. The response was deeply appreciated by John, and daughters Kerry and Lisa.”
I will send a condolence message to the last email address I had for John but I cannot guarantee that he will pick it up in Spain.
