The offending Tweet that Judy Murray sent causing something of a stir in the House of Lords
Black Rod , who is responsible for security at the Lords, was angered by the picture saying it ‘belittled’ parliament
Former MEP Baroness Billingham, 72, who is captain of the Lords’ tennis club, invited Mrs Murray to West-minster to promote the Tennis For Free charity, which helps working-class children enjoy the sport.
Baroness Billingham said: ‘Judy saw the notice on the door of the ladies’ loo, which says “Women peersâ€. She is a sparky woman and thought it was funny, so she took a photo and put it on the internet. I had no idea she had been a naughty girl.
‘Not long afterwards, I was told to go to see Black Rod. He said he felt the photo belittled the dignity of Parliament and told me to take it down.
Judy Murray had been invited to the Lords by Baroness Billingham of Banbury.
‘I refused. I am very undeferential and laughed. I told him, “I’m sorry if it offends you.†It would have been terribly rude to ask her to take it down.’ Baroness Billingham added waspishly: ‘Maybe Black Rod thought she should go to the Tower. He is fairly new and I think he is trying to stamp his authority.’
Good old Baroness Billingham of Banbury say I!
