A woman’s body has been found at a flat following an explosion in the block, police said last night.
A fire broke out at the scene in Guildford, Surrey, and a man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A police spokesman said: ‘Surrey Police can confirm that the body of a woman has been found in a property in Onslow Street, Guildford.

An investigation has started after the blast blew out windows and sparked a fire in the flat in Guildford
‘Surrey Police and Surrey Fire and Rescue were called to Bedford House shortly before 5.30pm yesterday following reports of an explosion in one of the flats.
‘The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.’
The woman had yet to be formally identified and inquiries were being made to trace her next of kin.
Meanwhile the man was being treated at Royal Surrey County Hospital, and a police officer was also treated for smoke inhalation, the police spokesman said.
Road closures were put in place but later lifted, and officers remained at the scene last night.
The cause of the explosion is currently unknown.
